Yorkville Real Estate

Feb.28, 2005 Toronto's Yorkville real estate: Bloor-Yorkville Area

Bloor-Yorkville encompasses the area between Charles St. W., Davenport Rd., Avenue Rd. and Yonge St. The most expensive shops in the city are here, shops like Holt Renfrew, Chanel and Ashley's Fine China. Hazelton Lanes is a higher-end mall in the area. For retailers, the shops have the highest rent in all of Toronto. Housing is among the highest too, with condominiums ranging from $139,000 for a one bedroom to over a million dollars. Four and five star hotels like the Four Seasons lie amidst the trendy restaurants and cafes that line the sidewalks. This area definitely caters to the platinum card holder with hours to spend on shopping, lunch and treatments at the spa.

Home to the Toronto International Film Festival in September, it's not uncommon to spot celebrities hanging out in the Bloor-Yorkville area. The University of Toronto has its main campus nearby. Also close by is the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), Canada's largest museum, which houses a collection of more than five million internationally renowned objects. The area used to be a hippie hangout in the 1960s, and was popular with artists. Today, many higher-end art galleries are a common site.
